CARDIOVASCULAR & CHOLESTEROL HEALTH

TOTAL CHOLESTEROL — A key overall indicator of cardiovascular health, and a useful baseline for tracking how your heart health shifts during weight loss.

LDL — Often called "bad" cholesterol, since higher levels are linked to plaque building up in your arteries.

HDL — The "good" cholesterol that helps clear LDL from your bloodstream, so higher levels generally point to better heart health.

TRIGLYCERIDES — A type of fat that circulates in your blood, influenced by diet, weight, and certain medications.

LDL/HDL RATIO — The balance between your "bad" and "good" cholesterol, which gives a sharper read on heart health than either number alone.

CHOLESTEROL/HDL RATIO — Another composite measure that puts your total cholesterol in context with your protective HDL.

THYROID FUNCTION

TSH — The main screening marker for thyroid function, the system that helps regulate your metabolism and energy.

BLOOD SUGAR & DIABETES RISK

HbA1c — Reflects your average blood sugar over the past 2–3 months, giving the longer-term view of how your body manages glucose.

GLUCOSE — Your blood sugar at the moment of testing, a snapshot that complements the longer-term HbA1c picture.

LIVER HEALTH

ALT — An enzyme found mainly in liver cells and the most specific marker of liver cell health.

AST — Another liver enzyme, read alongside ALT to build a fuller picture of how your liver is doing.

TOTAL BILIRUBIN — A waste product the liver clears, so your level reflects how well that process is working.

ALBUMIN — A protein made by your liver that reflects both its function and your nutritional status.

KIDNEY HEALTH

BUN — A marker of kidney function that also reflects protein metabolism, useful to watch during significant dietary changes.
